Financial Literacy Gets a Jump Start

In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, the eleventh annual Financial Literacy Day on Capitol Hill will take place on April 26, 2013 in Washington, D.C. Held by the Jump$tart Coalition (and sponsored in part by FSI), the event began as a small gathering of people interested in learning about the political process, and ballooned into an occasion for which 500 attendees are expected this year. (Watch the video below for a snapshot of Literacy Day in 2011.)

This year’s event – which is free and open to the public – will feature an open-house exhibition of financial literacy resources, programs, and educational initiatives by more than 60 individual participants from the business, financial, educational non-profit, trade association, academic, and government sectors. Co-chairs Rep. Hinojosa (D-TX) and Rep. Steven Stivers (R-OH) will speak at the event, as well as attending an open lunch where they will talk to attendees about issues of importance to the community.
