As part of our State Outreach Plan, members of FSI’s advocacy team traveled to Sacramento, California to meet with several members of the California state legislature to discuss social media, independent contractor and financial literacy issues.
FSI’s Tim Dawson met with several members of the state legislature, including Assemblyman Roger Dickinson (D-7), Assemblyman Roger Hernandez (D-48), Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-72) and staff members from the offices of Assemblywoman Nora Campos (D-27) and Senator Mark Wyland (D-38).
The meetings were very productive. In addition to explaining our members’ concerns on some of the legislation currently being proposed, we were able to talk about the independent business model, and explain how it helps Main Street Americans to have independent advisors available to them as they plan for their future and retirement.
Look for our upcoming blog on our travels to New York for more information on social media and other issues!
