Last week, a record number of our members converged in Washington, D.C. for FSI’s Capitol Hill Day & National Discussions. Besides coming together with peers to network, share best practices and attend round table discussions about issues critical to our industry, attendees spent a full day as citizen lobbyists on Capitol Hill, meeting with approximately 200 members of Congress.
During our meetings, members engaged lawmakers about the Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule proposal, as well as the importance of maintaining advisors’ independent contractor status. We also reminded legislators of the vital role our industry plays in helping Main Street American investors plan for the future and achieve a dignified retirement.
Events like Capitol Hill Day & National Discussions are critical to helping us protect your businesses and ensuring that all investors continue to have access to quality, professional financial advice. We thank all of our members who attended, and we look forward to seeing many more of you next year!
